Automata Music

A one-dimensional cellular automaton evolves row by row. Each row becomes a chord. Live cells trigger notes. Simple rules produce melodies no one designed.

Sonifying emergence

A cellular automaton is a row of cells, each alive or dead, updated by one local rule. The same rule, applied everywhere, produces structure from nothing — fractals, chaos, even universal computation. Making these patterns audible reveals rhythmic and harmonic structure invisible to the eye. What you hear was not composed. It was computed — and the computation is irreducible.
